CUT PAPER AND MYLAR, 2017
I made these collages using old magazines I found in Persa Bio Bio, a historic labrythine flea market in Santiago, Chile. The market was born around the 1940s, when—during financial crisis—vendors took to the streets of what was then Santiago's impoverished slaughterhouse district. Today, Bio Bio is an extensive second-hand goods commercial center flocked by locals and tourists alike every weekend. The magazines came inside the cardboard covers I used to send the works, and included photographs
Yume is the Japanese term for“Dream.” YUME at the AC Box Hole Gallery exhibits a series of drawings of a handmade cat toy. The cat toy was created in the form of a caricature of my cat Minnie, and thus embodies many elements of cute, including dumpiness, roundness, vulnerability and soft tactility. This series of mini matrices is a continued exploration of how mathematics and aesthetics blend together in uniquely perfect combinations. My work is predominantly fueled by my interest in colour therapy & sacred geometry juxtaposed with my analytic upbringing. Multiple hues make up the surface of each piece and are intended to create an undulation of colour and value reminiscent of vibrational energies.
Handsized Comfort is the result of artist Tori Tinsley using a phone app to simultaneously capture both her own image and her mother's image in a single photograph. Tinsley's photographs produce a composite image resembling intentional collaboration between the two subjects. Yet in actuality, the artist's mother is unable to connect due to a brain disease called fronto-temporal degernation. These Handsized Comfort studies assist Tinsley in better understanding the physical and psychological meld
